Concierge fills your shifts for you. This article covers how your shift gets staffed, how to see who is on it, how to swap someone out, and how to build your bench for next time.
Concierge lives in the Croux web app. Sign in at app.croux.co on a computer or tablet browser to use it. The mobile app does not include Concierge.
How your shift gets staffed
You do not work through applicants one at a time, and you do not wait for applications to collect before hiring. When you post a shift, Concierge narrows to Croux who carry that position and meet the experience minimum you set, reaches for the people you have favorited and worked with successfully, and selects them for the shift. Each person is on your shift once they tap Accept. Concierge selects right away on shifts that start within 96 hours and on shifts with 4 or more spots; on a shift with 1 to 3 spots that starts later, it waits 6 hours first. See How Concierge Fills Your Shifts for the details.
You can still see everyone attached to the shift, and you still decide who stays on it.
Skilled roles: bartending and line cook
Concierge fills bartending and line cook shifts like any other, with one difference: it only selects Croux who have done that role, on a Croux shift or in work history they listed. Croux with related experience, such as a bar back or kitchen helper, may be invited to apply, and you decide whether to select them.
Everything else on this page still applies to them. Your favorites, Do Not Hire list, ratings and experience minimum all still shape who we reach for on a bar shift. Tell us who you want behind your bar and we will get them on it.
Requiring a certificate
Some shifts need talent who hold a specific certificate, such as bartending shifts that need alcohol service training. You can require one on a shift or a shift template.
- Start a new shift, or open one to edit
- Under Advanced, select Expand
- Turn on Require a certificate
- Pick the certificates you accept: TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol or ServSafe Food Handler
Talent need one of the certificates you pick, verified by Croux and valid on the shift date. The form confirms your choice, for example Talent need: TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol. A ServSafe Food Handler card is food safety training, so pick it only when that is what the shift needs.
The same Require a certificate option is in the template editor, so every shift you post from that template carries it.
What talent do
Talent upload their card in the Croux app. We check that it is the right certificate, in their name, and current. Anything unclear is reviewed by our team before it counts. Talent can apply to your shift only once their certificate is verified.
Where you see each person's certificate
On a shift that requires a certificate, each applicant shows their certificate status:
- Verified, with the month it is valid until: they meet the requirement
- Under review: our team is still checking it
- Expired or Missing: they do not meet the requirement
To see who is on your shift
- Open the shift from your dashboard
- Select the Applicants tab or the count
- Use the Applied, Hired and Unavailable filters to see where each person stands
In the Croux mobile app, the same Applied, Hired and Unavailable tabs appear on the shift's Applicants screen.
What Unavailable means
A person shows as Unavailable when they are already hired on another Croux shift whose hours overlap yours. Overnight shifts and shifts with other businesses count. A shift that ends exactly when yours starts does not.
- You cannot select an Unavailable person, so the selection controls are hidden for them
- Concierge skips them too and reaches for someone who is free
- If their other booking ends or is cancelled, they show as available again
Someone on your Do Not Hire list keeps the Do Not Hire label instead.
Open the person to see why. In the mobile app the banner reads The applicant has been hired for another shift at the same time.
What you will see for each person
| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Name and photo | Who they are |
| Trust Score | Their reliability rating across Croux |
| Experience | The Croux shifts they have completed in that role, shown separately from the work history they listed themselves |
| Certifications | TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol and ServSafe Food Handler, and on a shift that requires one, whether it is verified |
| Reviews | Feedback from businesses they have worked for |
Certificate status
On a certificate-required shift, the applicant list shows the certificate and its verification status.
Open the talent profile to see the verified certificate and its expiration date.
You still decide who works
| You can always | Detail |
|---|---|
| Remove anyone | Including someone already hired, up to 24 hours before the shift starts, at no charge. Within 24 hours of the start time, a Late Cancellation Fee applies |
| Ask for specific people | Tell your account contact who you want on a shift and we will reach out to them for that shift |
| Rule someone out for good | Add them to your Do Not Hire list from their profile and Concierge will not match them to you again. You only have to do it once |
| Change the requirements | Position, experience minimum, uniform, timing |
To take someone off a shift
Open the shift, view the hired list, select the person, then choose Remove and confirm. Removing someone more than 24 hours before the shift starts is free and the spot reopens for Concierge to fill again; within 24 hours of the start time a Late Cancellation Fee applies.
For the full walkthrough — when to remove versus asking the talent to cancel, what the talent sees, and how the fee is calculated — see How to Remove Hired Talent from a Shift.
Getting better people next time
| Do this | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Favorite the people you want back | Your My Croux list is the first place Concierge looks every time you post |
| Rate and comment after each shift | Written comments carry detail a rating alone cannot, and they shape who gets matched to you |
| Use Do Not Hire | Permanent until you reverse it |
| Set an experience minimum | On skilled roles this is the fastest way to narrow who can be matched at all. Set it on the shift or on its shift template |

Do Not Hire can apply to specific positions
A whole-business Do Not Hire block excludes someone from all your shifts. A position restriction excludes them only from the specified roles, so they can still be considered for other roles.
For a position restriction, tell Concierge the talent’s name and the roles to exclude. For example: “Keep this person off Dishwasher shifts, but keep them eligible for Server shifts.” Review the scope in Concierge’s response and confirm if prompted. Check the final response says the restriction was recorded.
Ratings and restrictions are separate: a Bad rating does not itself add a Do Not Hire block. To remove or change a restriction, tell Concierge exactly which restriction to change.
