Sometimes a shift disappears from your schedule because the business removed you from it, not because anything happened on your end. Here is what that means and what it does not mean.
Why it happens
Businesses manage their own rosters and can adjust a shift's roster up to 24 hours before it starts. That can mean reducing headcount or changing who is assigned to the shift. When that happens, talent who were hired for the shift may be released from it.
You will always be notified by email when this happens. Look for a subject line like "Change to your Bartender shift" with the position you were hired for.
What it means for your account
- It is not a cancellation by you. A business removal is never counted as a talent cancellation, so the late-cancellation policy does not apply to you.
- There is no penalty. No suspension, no strike, nothing you need to appeal.
- You can keep applying right away. Your account works exactly as it did before, and you are free to pick up another shift in the same time slot.
What about pay?
Pay follows worked time, with two protections:
- Hired and confirmed, then removed within 24 hours of the shift start? That is treated like a late business cancellation, and you will receive a cancellation payment: the lesser of 50% of the total shift value or 4 hours at the shift's hourly rate.
- Already arrived or started working? The Early Dismissal policy protects your pay with a minimum payout. See What Happens If I'm Sent Home Early From a Shift? for exactly how that works.
- Removed more than 24 hours before the shift, or before you were hired and confirmed? There are no hours to pay out, and no penalty or mark against you.
You will receive a "Removed From Shift" notification whenever a business makes this change.
Common questions
Can I find out why I was removed? Staffing decisions belong to the business, and we are not able to share their reasoning, in the same way we do not share your feedback about a business with them. A removal is not recorded as a cancellation by you and does not affect your Trust Score.
My app shows the shift as canceled by me — what do I do? If you believe a business removal was recorded as your cancellation, contact support with the shift code (the 6-character code shown with your shift) and we will review it.
Does this affect my ability to work for that business again? Being released from one shift does not remove you from a business's future shifts. You can apply to their postings like anyone else.
