Before You Can Apply
To start applying for shifts, your Croux account needs to be approved. This means completing your basic profile info (name, phone number, and address) and getting through the approval process.
Unlike before, you no longer need to complete every step — like Stripe Identity or your background check — just to browse and apply. Those requirements now show up as shift prerequisites on individual shifts that need them.
What Are Shift Prerequisites?
Some shifts have specific requirements you need to meet before you can apply. These are called prerequisites, and they vary by shift. Common prerequisites include:
- Stripe Identity Verification — verify your government-issued ID
- Background Check — consent to a background check through Turn
- TARA Screening Call — complete a short AI-powered screening call
- Certifications — specific certifications required for the role
When a shift has prerequisites, you'll see them listed directly on the shift card. Each one has a "Complete" button — tap it to finish the requirement right from the shift detail screen without navigating away.
Once all prerequisites are met, you can apply immediately.

Check Your Status
Open the app and look at your profile to see which steps are complete and which are pending.
Common reasons for delays:
- Background check pending — This can take up to 7-10 days in some counties. See Background Check: Timeline and What to Do If It's Stuck
- ID not accepted — Make sure it's a clear photo of a government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID)
- Profile incomplete — Double-check all required fields are filled in
