What Are Shift Prerequisites?
Shift prerequisites are steps you need to complete before you can apply for certain shifts on Croux. They show up right on the shift card, so you always know exactly what's needed — and you can take care of it without leaving the screen.
Think of prerequisites as a quick checklist. Complete the items, and you're ready to work.
What Prerequisites Might I See?
Depending on the shift, you may be asked to complete one or more of the following:
- Stripe Identity Verification — Confirms your identity so you can get paid securely through the app
- Background Check — A background consent that some businesses require before you can work their shifts
- TARA AI Screening — A quick phone call with our AI assistant that covers your work experience, availability, and weekly shift goals. Completing TARA boosts your Profile Score by up to 50%
- Uniform Requirements — Some shifts require specific attire (like black pants and non-slip shoes). You'll see exactly what's needed before you apply
How Do Prerequisites Work?
When you open a shift, any prerequisites you haven't completed yet will appear directly on the shift detail screen. Each one has a button you can tap to get started right away.
Once you finish a prerequisite, it's done — it applies across all shifts, not just the one you're looking at. So completing Stripe Identity once means you won't see that requirement again.
What Are High-Quality Shifts?
Some shifts on Croux are flagged as high-quality. These come from top-rated businesses and typically offer higher pay or better working conditions. High-quality shifts automatically require three prerequisites:
- Stripe Identity Verification
- Background Check consent
- TARA AI Screening
Completing all three unlocks the best shifts available to you. It also strengthens your Profile Score, which helps you stand out to businesses before you've even worked your first shift.
How to Complete Your Prerequisites
- Open any shift you're interested in from the shift feed
- Look for the prerequisites section on the shift detail screen
- Tap the button next to any incomplete item to start it
- Follow the prompts to finish — most take just a few minutes
- Once all prerequisites are met, tap Apply to request the shift
You can also complete prerequisites from your Profile screen. Go to More and look for any incomplete items listed there.
Tips to Get Shift-Ready Faster
- Complete everything upfront. Knock out Stripe, background check, and TARA before you start browsing shifts. That way, nothing slows you down when the perfect shift pops up.
- Call TARA early. The call takes about 5 minutes and has the single biggest impact on your Profile Score.
- Check uniform requirements. Read the details carefully so you show up prepared on shift day.
